Get Website Traffic

Get Website Traffic

The first step to get website traffic happens in the planning and development stage of your website. You should have targeted keyword phrases for your site’s structure in order to get high rankings in the search engines. You will also need to optimize your website page with the correct meta tags, title tags, and keyword count.

The secret to choosing the best keywords for your website will depend on the number of people searching for those terms and how many pages are competing for them.

To determine how many people are searching for your particular keyword phrase you can use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Simply type in the keyword or phrase that you think would bring you relevant traffic. Google shows you how many people search for that keyword in a month. Now that you know that people are searching for that term how will you know if you can rank high enough to get website traffic? You can type your keyword into the Google search box and see how many page results come up. This will be your competition. There will most likely be quite a few results and if you want your page to be listed on the first page (first 10 results) you will have to do some serious SEO Search Engine Optimization.

It’s pretty obvious that in order to get website traffic to your pages, you will need to do more traffic generating techniques than just “on page” SEO. This can be a daunting and time consuming task, which is probably why most people who own websites don’t do it. The problem is traffic = website visitors and website visitors become customers.

There are many different traffic generating techniques that you can implement to get website traffic. Some of them are: AdWord, YouTube, Pay Per View, PPC, Articles, Facebook, SEO, and many more. Search engine marketing is a complete field unto itself. It generally isn’t a service your website designer will offer unless they are a really large firm or they outsource it. Now here’s the catch. Most website owners can’t afford a real search engine marketing service. A true professional will charge thousands of dollars and take months to complete a marketing campaign. I know of clients that have tried this route and have been very disappointed in their results.

So what can you do to get website traffic? The answer is really pretty simple. You do it yourself. How? That’s the harder question to answer. You can spend a lot of time researching traffic generating techniques and trying them out to see if they work. But I would recommend you find a book or guide that explains the techniques and has a proven record.

There are many good resources out there. I recommend you check out George Brown’s Traffic Ultimatum for a comprehensive resource guide. He gives you step by step instructions that are complete and easy to follow. Some of the traffic generating modules are really quick and start working in no time. Plus he offers an eight week money back guarantee so you can see if you are capable of implementing the techniques and if they work for your website – without risk.
