The first step to get website traffic happens in the planning and development stage of your website. You should have targeted keyword phrases for your site’s structure in order to get high rankings in the search engines. You will also need to optimize your website page with the correct meta tags, title tags, and keyword count.

To determine how many people are searching for your particular keyword phrase you can use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool. It’s pretty obvious that in order to get website traffic to your pages, you will need to do more traffic generating techniques than just “on page” SEO.
