On the left side of the screen the type tool has been expanded to display the various type options. Basically you can make your type plain, in a paragraph, set to a curve, or vertical. And this is only one tool. When you use the pen tool in conjunction with fonts you can shape your type any way you choose and completely customize your logo.

In the example below you can see the vector points in blue. The leaf has been added to the H to make a unique logo type for the Hush Intimate Apparel logo.

Adobe Illustrator is a very powerful logo design software and can take some time to learn. There are some videos available on the Adobe website to help you get started.
